My Community Services
Lazarus House Ministries Homeless Center
I have always enjoyed serving the community and did whenever I could. When I was in 8th grade, I decided to pick one organization for long-term service. I settled on an organization in Lawrence, MA, the Lazarus House Ministries. They help the homeless people. I would go there on Sundays during lunch and help with whatever they needed, whether it was serving or packing or distributing the food, or unpacking and packing supplies or cleaning the trays and dishes. There was always plenty for me to do whenever I went on Sundays. I loved going there. I highly encourage people to do what they can to help in their communities. It's also a gentle reminder how fortunate we are in our lives.
2024 Holiday Cards to the Local Senior Center Residents
I did another local community service project during the 2024 holiday season. I reached out to the local senior centers and asked them if their residents would like to receive hand-written holiday cards. They said yes. So, I wrote Thanksgiving and Christmas cards to the residents of Ashland Farms, Edgewood, and Brightview - all in North Andover. I thanked them for their wisdom, experiences and contribution to the society and wished them happy holidays. In total, I wrote over 1200 cards. At times, it was difficult to find time with my high school work, but in the end, it turned out to be very satisfactory. I received a few thank you emails from the residents which was very nice.
